The book gathers Turbeville's photographs of the parts of Versailles off limits to the public. The two corresponded throughout their lives up until Jackie's death in 1994. Hugh was 14 when his father married Jackie's mother and he and 12-year-old Jackie became close friends, spending summers together at Hammersmith Farm. The Auchincloss's were a wealthy family that made their fortune in oil and finance, and continue to have a prominent role in American politics.
